Dear fellow Amateurs of the Adelaide Hills Amateur Radio Society Inc. As you are all aware the AGM is coming up on the 20th February, and Phil has extensively made this known for the last 3 months on the Sunday broadcast and also with emails to our members. We have been soliciting for members to step up and take an interest in the running of the Club and inject some new ideas and drive into the Committee, but unfortunately so far we have only received a single nomination for one of the committee positions. This is a disappointing outcome in a Society of 164 members. The committee is in an awkward position of potentially not having a President, due to the current constitution specifying that a member may only serve for a maximum of 3 years in that position. This is now causing problems as none of the current committee wish to take over the position, but the current incumbent is willing to continue, hence the reason for this proposed alteration. This will allow the position to be filled until the next AGM, at which time any extended tenure will be again subject to the nomination process and election, it also continues with the highly desirable objective of refreshing the leadership of the society on a three yearly basis, and creates a workable compromise when there are insufficient nominations to hand for the President's position. We also consider that anyone who thinks they would like to be considered for the position should become a committee person for the previous year to see how the system operates and become familiar with the workings of the Club. With a membership of 164 persons, I am somewhat dismayed at the lack of interest in stepping up and helping in the running of your society. To this end, notice is hereby given that the next AGM on Feb 20th 2020, there will be a special general meetingbeing held prior to the AGM proceedings to consider this required constitutional change. On behalf of the Committee Executive - Barry VK5BW The two attachments are :- 1. AHARS-2020 draft constitution - the whole document including the amendment. 2. Proposed alteration of the Constitution for AHARS - just the section 6.2 of the Constitution in which the changes are to be made [ Para 6.2 b). ] Regards & 73 Barry Williams VK5BW WIA#370495 Mob 0429 825 590 ![]()
