They are still selling well, we are half way into the last batch of 100 and we will need to order more components shortly for the next 100, particularly those items that take a long time to source. This project has brought in good revenue to the Club, which has allowed us to provide equipment and fund the Shack, repeaters, badges and all the other things the Club does.
ADELAIDE HILLS AMATEUR RADIO SOCIETY, INC. POSTAL ADDRESS: P.O. The contract has been let for the installation of the security fence around the entrance area of the Shack. This consists of pierced steel supports with vertical rods and a double fold back door to allow entry to the portico. After this is set up, then the brick paving will be replaced by a concrete floor. We will also run some underground conduit to allow an internet connection to be provided so that the security system that will be installed is able to notify us of intrusions and allow the installation of remote cameras as well.
This has met with the full approval of the GG CEO, and will assure our tenancy of the site for at least the next 5 years. The GG movement is trying to get some more activity for the Hall, and is looking at combining other GG & Scout activities at the site, the storage shed will probably be revamped / repaired at some stage, although there are some issues with keys that have to be straightened out. So far, there has been very little vandalism at the site, probably because of the winter temperatures, but a small amount of graffiti still occurs from time to time, which is painted out as soon as possible, tags being photographed and made available to the Sturt Police. Last Thursday's general meeting was the subject of a complaint made against the Club, that a couple of Ladies doing work in the Foyer were asked to let the persons gathered outside into the premises and they refused to do so, as they are not permitted to do this. The Council has strict guide lines as to this, and they must be followed.
It must be understood that no one can be permitted entry to the premises with out the group key holder (Phil or some other nominated person) opening the door to do so. Our meetings are scheduled to start at 7:30 pm, which is when the doors may be opened, we have been lucky so far that we have been able to open the doors earlier than that to allow us to set up, because there has been no other group using the room. Under no circumstances are members allowed to try and induce any other person working inside to open the doors for them, or chide them for refusing to do so, courtesy to others is very important. This will be the subject of a Committee meeting at which we will probably generate some local by-laws to add to the constitution which covers this area, this will include possible repercussions to any member found not complying and causing embarrassment to the Club. Info from Barry VK5BW re the Mid Year Lunch.....
Time is fast running out for you to register for the Mid year Lunch to be held at the Uraidla Hotel on July the 17th , see the map below. We will be the first group to use their brand new dining room and from what I saw last week it will be very nice but is still being finished off at this time. Parking can be accessed to the rear car park from lanes on both sides of the premises. The Hotel is on Greenhill Road, opposite the intersection of Basket Range Road. Bookings will be taken up until Sunday evening the 25th of June (this Sunday !) as I need to advise the venue the final numbers of how many to set up for. The menu has been set and is included in this circular as per below. 2 course – main and dessert $35 / person Mains : Choice of :- • Chicken or Beef Schnitty – chips, salad or vegetables, gravy, mushroom or pepper sauce. • SA Market Fish & Chips, crumbed, battered or grilled, tartare, lemon, salad or vegetables. • Zucchini flower, potato, dill, Persian feta, open pie, pistachio baby leaf salad, orange dressing. Bookings have gone well, but there are a few places still available for those that have left it until now, so don't delay or after Sunday, you will be too late ! All bookings to John VK5EMI please, his e-mail is dellio2@bigpond.net.au Time is set for 12:00 for a 12:30 start, by that time the room will be set up for us and the merriment can commence ! Drinks are your own responsibility, there are at least 2 bars so no excuse for being thirsty, but as always don't overdo it, we would like all our members to arrive safely home after having a good time. |
