I am writing to you and your club members to give you an update on preparations for the Wireless Institute of Australia (WIA) Annual General Meeting (AGM) meeting. This meeting will be held at Hahndorf over the weekend on 19th to 21st May 2017.
The preparatory work for the event, prepared by a small group of amateurs representing most Adelaide Amateur Radio Clubs, in now complete and details, including registration, are available on the WIA web page.... https://www.wia.org.au/joinwia/wia/2017agm/. A number of attendance packages are available. The minimum package isattending on Saturday, morning and afternoon tea and lunch provided for $45 together with a $15 administrative charge. Other additions available to participants include, attending a welcome and dinner on the Friday evening, a Saturday partners’ tour, gala dinner with guest speaker on Saturday evening and a final barbecue on Sunday evening with associated activities. The theme for the weekend is Inspiring Leadership: the Future of AmateurRadio and Saturday afternoon will be set aside for a showcase of South Australian (SA) amateur innovation followed by a Question and Answer (Q&A) session. Underpinning the afternoon is the aim of having amateur radio, closely linked the Science, Technology, Engineering, (Arts) and Mathematics (STE(A)M) project in schools and to bring out the ‘wow’ factor. The afternoon will be chaired by a competent MC. Demonstrations related to each presentation will be provided at the Hahndorf Football Oval on Sunday afternoon. All amateurs are welcome to attend. You do not have to be a member of the WIA to attend, but if you wish to vote at the AGM you will need to be a member. We have been encouraged by the bookings so far. However, places are still available and we urge South Australian amateurs to attend this unique event. This is the first such meeting held in South Australia. The weekend will be a unique event in SA and unlikely to be repeated for many years. Please distribute this information this information to your members and we look forward to seeing many SA amateurs. Yours sincerely David Clegg, VK5KC On behalf of the WIA AGM Organising Committee 26th February 2017
