Good day folks, this is Phil VK5SRP with the latest news from AHARS.
Looks like the problems with the AHARS web site has been fixed, BIG thank you to Paul and his expert friend. You should have received and email with the latest calendar on Wednesday. If you did not receive this email then I do not have your current email address. I have had a complaint the Anne Jolly Hall at CRAFERS is too far from our heartland for some of our members to go. I have been sent details of two other halls in our area by the council and AHARS has used both of these in the past. One is now not suitable as our membership has grown to more than double what it was when these venues were used by AHARS and the facilities are primitive. The other we were visiting on Tuesday the 20th but the covid lockdown has put a stop to this. When the lockdown is lifted we will visit this venue and hopefully book it for the next two years of General Meetings ! At the July the 15th General Meeting Dean VK5LB introduced us to his latest toy, a Hack RF rig. Pity the weather was so bad, we only had about half our usual attendees at a general meeting. On August the 19th, we have four fellows from AREG who took part in the A35JT Tonga expedition, telling us a great story. Keep an eye on your emails just in case covid scuttles this plan. The next lunch at the Blackwood RSL on Friday the 23rd of July has been cancelled due to the lock down. Stay in touch to find out when we can resume this popular activity. The brunch at the shack on Saturday the 31st of July has been cancelled due to the lockdown. We do not know if it is going to end on time. The AHARS shirts are ready and Pat has delivered some of them at the coffee mornings and at the recent General Meetings. If you cannot collect them at a meeting please email Pat to make other arrangements. patstorr@adam.com.au The Ironstone Range site has been down, off and on, due to insufficient battery power. We have been given some BIG batteries and with some other additions we should soon have sufficient 12 Volt power to keep the site running all the time. Barry is still looking for people to help assemble the PCBs for this project. Contact Barry if you think you have the expertise to help assemble these PCB’s. You will need to be able to work with surface mount components and have suitable tools for this work. Keep an eye on your emails and an ear on the Sunday broadcasts to find out what AHARS is planning for 2021. My email address for this month is philstorr@adam.com.au. That’s all for this week, 73. -- Cheers Phil Storr PO Box 501 Modbury South Australia 5092 philipstorr.id.au philstorr@adam.com.au VK5SRP
