AHARS

Membership, Examination Policy and Benefits


MEMBERSHIP FEES:
    Club Subscriptions (continuing member): $20 if paid before the end of March, otherwise, $25
    New Member: $20 (other than New Licencees). Pro-rata after August. No joining fee.
    New Licencee : Up to 12 months free AHARS membership with pro-rata charges to following AGM. (See GENERAL     EXAMINATION INFORMATION: below).
    First Club Badge for New Members. Club will pay.
    Junior Membership: Rebate of 50% to those under 15.
    WIA Membership: AHARS will reimburse $35 towards WIA membership for first year for successful examination candidates. Submit proof of payment to the Treasurer.
    Membership Year: From Club Annual General Meeting (February) to the next.

Please note that the AHARS committee may change membership conditions if it sees the need.

EXAMINATIONS:

    Training/Examination Location:
    Contact your trainer to confirm examination venue and other details.

    Study Materials Required: Relevant Study Book or material.
   
   Subsidy of Examination Costs:
        Member candidate costs will be subsidised once exam is passed and proof submitted.
        There is a once-only subsidy for studies.
        For the subsidy to apply an applicant must be an AHARS member:
             for greater than 3 months before sitting for the Foundation Licence examination
             for greater then 12 months before sitting  for upgrade from Foundation to Standard or Standard to Advanced
        Application for subsidy to be made within 12 months of completing the examination.
        A maximum payment of $50 will be made after 12 months of continuous financial membership.

BENEFITS OF BELONGING TO AHARS:

    Excellent guest speakers: wide variety of topics.

    Club Projects: antennas, measuring equipment, etc – under guidance.

    Construction evenings under expert guidance.

    Social activities: two club dinners, and an annual BBQ. Informal luncheons.

    Tapes and DVD’s of club talks.

    Club visits: get to visit some of those amazing technical places where clever things are done.

    Club Library: hard to get and/or expensive magazines for loan.

    Buy and Sell events.

    Training: exams and practical.

    CLUB PROJECTS: Several projects are run each year. It’s a good way to make (under guidance) that antenna or useful device. Cheaper than buying over the counter, and improves your knowledge too.

    Club weekly Net on VK5RAD.
    Listen in or join in on Monday nights, from 8 pm to about 9:30 pm local. Receive frequency is 147.00 MHz, with -600     KHz offset. Master of Ceremonies is Jim, VK5TR, or Dean, VK5LB.

    All licensed amateurs are welcome.

CLUB MEETINGS: Third Thursday of the month, starting at 7:30 pm.
Venue: Belair Community Centre, corner of Sheoak Road and Belair Road, Belair.

Three-monthly. Includes Club Program, projects, anecdotes, experiences, ideas, advice, etc.
